Focus Group

Today we put together a focus group in order to receive some feedback on our trailer and to help us answer our evaluation questions.

Editing Session 5

Today we finally finished our all our editing and had our completed film trailer ready to upload. Chris had found several upbeat songs that he transferred onto the memory stick. We imported all the songs and we listened to them to see which one we thought was best suited to our trailer. After we added in the music to the action scenes, Sam added a cut to a black screen to make the ending smoother and it finished with one more boom sound effect. We then saved it to the desktop and uploaded it to our Youtube account.

Editing Session 4

Today we completed editing session 4 and managed to make a few changes and add certain things to our trailer. We began by importing the sound clips Sam had found. Sam then added the film 4 beginning, which we have playing just after the green band appears. We then added a boom effect over every transition in which Dan McGlaughlin speaks and all the action shots during the 'montage' scenes.
We then finished by adding the heartbeat to the drug deal scene. We decided to have the heartbeat over the footage to build up suspense but at first we had to large a gap between each duplication of the clip, so the heartbeat was quite slow in some areas. So we added more of the heartbeats and put them closer together so that it would get quicker and quicker before the drug deal. We had then done the editing we had planned and only had to add some more non diegetic sound that Chris was going to find.

Voice Over

We decided that a long with the non diegetic sound track, we needed a voice over so that the collection of scenes made sense. Sam had produced a script and we wanted Tom Chapman, our main character, to read out the script. From research I have noticed that a lot of the film trailers have a voice over to make it more complete and to give a sense of what the characters are going through and how they are thinking during the scenes.

Here is the voice over script:
Do you know what it feels like?
To wake up feeling empty inside
Nothing positive to drive you forward
When life and joy is taken away from you so suddenly
You become emotionless, oblivious to the people around you
Nothing else matters
Except the violence and pain I inflict on others.
