Editing Session 3 took place on the 28th, however, I was unable to attend as I had a driving lesson after school. However, Chris and Sam informed me and have since shown me the work they did during the editing session.
Sam made adjustments to the font we were using for the subtitles. He chose a fitting font from Final Cut Pro X which was best suited for our trailer. The font is a 2D style called Grunge and the other font is called Gaz, with both the fonts creating a sense of ruggedness. Chris put the voice over onto his memory stick so that he could transfer it easily onto the Mac. He imported the file onto the Mac and he and Sam started putting it over the top of trailer, putting it the suitable places. Then they added a flash to the cut when Shaun is with the dealer. This was a good decision and I think it works well with what is happening in the scene. To finish Sam cut some of the non diegetic sound track in areas where tension is created, so that we can add another track which is more fast paced to build up the tension.

Editing Session 2
On the 27th, we decided to do some more editing after we had filmed Tom reading the script which will be played over the top of trailer. After we had successfully filmed Tom, we went onto the Mac computers and opened up Final Cut Pro X.
Sam began by trying to upload the chosen song onto the Mac. The chosen song is called Nichole by Gravenhurst. We struggled to get the song off the Ipod onto the Mac, which should have been fairly simple, as we have done it before. We couldnt work out why it wasnt working and we spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was wrong. Eventually we decided to use a Youtube converter to download the song and then we were able to save the song and drag and drop of the desktop. After getting it onto Final Cut Pro X, we added it onto the timeline and had it playing over the trailer. We started looking at where the sound track would be suited to play over the trailer and as we played around we think we found when it would be best suited.
After that Chris tried to get the recorded voice over of Tom off his phone and onto the Mac. However, we faced more problems as he struggled to upload it. We will sort out that problem so that when we next come to edit, we will have it ready to go.

Editing Session 1
On the 15th January we began editing our film trailer after school. We began by putting all our footage onto the Mac computer and opened Final Cut Pro, the software we use in order to edit all our footage. We had to create a new project and then import all our filming into it. Once this was done we were ready to put all our scenes into the order we had decided on our storyboard, onto the timeline. After Sam had put the scenes in the correct order, Chris added transitions to make the film trailer more fluent and more professional. Sam also cut some of the shots down as either they were too long or there were bits we didnt need. I thought we could put our titles in for the time being just so we had it all split up and that when it came to the next editing session we knew where our titles were going to be and all we had to do was change the font.
Sam was able to stay whilst me and Chris went home and he managed to get some more editing done and left the film trailer in a good position, ready for us to edit next time. He was able to make some of the scenes quieter as some were too loud due to the wind or other noises. We are going to have a voice over played over the top and music so we dont need sound in the actual shots.

Editing Software
The editing software we use to produce our finished trailer is Final Cut Pro X. We used this editing software last year which we have available to us on the iMacs at school, so we have more experience compared to last year which gives us an advantage of creating a better final product. Last year was the first time we had ever used this sort of editing software so a lot of the time was wasted through trial and error of the different tools. This year we will be able to use our knowledge to use different tools and different transitions in order to create a trailer which looks professional and is fluid.

Filming Day 5
We have now completed all our filming for our film trailer after completing the filming of our final scenes. Today we filmed a couple more shots that involved Shaun played by Tom Chapman. After school we made our way to Sams house where we decided we would film a shot of Shaun hitting Sam over the head with a glass bottle to show his violent side yet again. We decided that Sam would be at the front door and Shaun would grab a bottle close by and hit him over the head. Chris filmed the first shot which was a low angle shot from behind Shaun, which shows the bottle in shot. We then see Shaun reach for the bottle and has it by his side ready to hit Sam with it.
I then filmed the next shot, this time an over the shoulder shot of Sam looking towards Shaun. In this shot we see Shaun hitting Sam over the head with the bottle and the over the shoulder shot allows the audience to see it from Sams perspective. After this shot we changed our location to a local graveyard. We used Chris' great grandmothers grave. At the graveyard we filmed three shots, some of which I thought were our best shots. The first shot filmed by Sam was a wide shot of Shaun walking towards the grave, coming to pay his respect to his dead mother, which shos a softer side to his character. We got Shaun to stop in front of the grave and to look at it. Sam then took a low angle shot looking up at Shaun to show his sadness of losing his mum. Then our final shot filmed by Sam was of Shaun putting a rose down on her grave then walking away and back to his normal self. As Shaun walks away he puts up his hood and goes straight back into the character we know.
All our filming is now complete and we are ready to upload all our footage on to the Mac computers to begin editing.

Filming Day 4
We completed our last scene that involved being in school which shows Shaun beating up someone. We had Shaun pinning up another student against the wall and Sam filmed this by using a wide shot of one of our extras walking through the corridor to be surprised by Shaun who attacks him. Our plan was to then film a two shot of Shaun throwing a couple of punches at the other character, however this was difficult to film as trying to punch someone and not making contact was hard to act. I decided that we should have the camera from the perspective of the character who is getting beat up and Shaun should throw a punch directly towards the camera, showing the POV of the character getting beat up. We asked Shaun to do slow punches towards the camera, really emphasising the movement, so that in editing we can speed it up. We have now completed all the filming that includes being in school and have just got to do a little more filming.

Filming Day Three
Today we filmed for the third day however we hadnt planned on getting a lot done, just a couple of shots near school. We decided we were going to film Shaun and the Drug dealer. The scene involved Shaun finishing his day at school and walking home down the alleyway along the school. He is met by his drug dealer boss who wants him to start dealing for him.
Sam started of the filming with a wide shot of Shaun walking from the gate and down the alleyway. As he enters the alleyway, the dealer has his hood up and is leaning against the wall in an intimidating manner. This didnt take long to film and was quite a successful shot. Chris then filmed the next shot of both the characters in a two shot. In this scene the drug dealer steps in the way of Shaun and confronts him.
I then filmed an over the shoulder shot of the dealer in conversation with Shaun in an aggressive manner as he wanted him to do his dirty work. We finished off with Sam filming a shot reverse shot of Shaun talking back to the dealer. This scene was difficult to film as both the characters were either laughing or forgot their short lines.

Filming Day 2
Today we completed our second day of filming and managed to film shots within school. We managed to film the shot of drug exchange involving Shaun, the shot of Shaun working in school and his conversation with Sarah played by Anna.
We started off by filming a high angle shot looking down on Shaun as he was working in the classroom. This scene shows the difference in Shaun from getting into trouble and doing drugs, to working hard and trying to achieve what he is capable of. Sam filmed the first shot by standing on a table so that he was looking down of Shaun. The fact the camera is looking down suggests someone is there and on top of him making sure he does his work in order to make a change instead of getting into trouble.
Chris then filmed the next shot which was a low angle shot looking at Shaun from a different angle, to highlight Shaun's hard work. Shaun remained seated and pretended to do work whilst Chris sat down and tilted the camera upwards to get Shaun's upper body whilst sat down. After we had completed this scene we then moved location and started to film in the hall way at school. This location required the drug dealing scene in which Shaun would hand over a bag of drugs to Adam Burgess who was one of our extras, whilst Adam handed over the money to make it seem like a real deal. I filmed the shot of Shaun walking down the hall way. The shot was a tracking shot in which I followed closely behind Shaun as he walked. I made sure I had his upper half in the shot and I was slightly to the right of Shaun so that I could capture Adam as he walked from the other end of the hall.
After this shot Sam filmed a low angle shot looking up at Adam as he walked towards Shaun. This was a difficult shot to take as Sam had to be very low to the ground and had to walk backwards so that he could keep the camera still and have it looking up at Adam as he walked. Chris then filmed a shot of both Shaun and Adam doing the deal and this was taken from the angle in which you can see the exchange of the drugs and the money. I then filmed the last shot which was a close up from the same angle, in which I had moved the camera forward to highlight the exchange and to get a close up of their hands as they did the deal.
We then decided to stay after school to film a shot of Sarah played by Anna and Shaun, who are having a conversation to see whether Shaun is ok as she knows he is going through a difficult time. The first shot was a two shot of both the characters in conversation filmed by Sam. The final shot filmed by Sam was a low angle shot looking up at Shaun as he looks away in anger and frustration.

Font for Poster
I have been looking at different fonts that I think would look good and be best suited for my film poster, taking into consideration previous British Drama film posters and the types of font they have used.

This is my first idea for font and to me this connotes crime and danger. I think it looks like barbed wire cutting through the font which suggests no escape or threatening behaviour from the outside.

This is my first idea for font and to me this connotes crime and danger. I think it looks like barbed wire cutting through the font which suggests no escape or threatening behaviour from the outside.
This is my second font idea and I have taken inspiration from The Football Factory which uses a font in which it is not joined up correctly like this one. The misaligned letters could suggest broken bones due to the violence. In addition, the font is in bold and would stand out at the centre of a poster or magazine.
I like this font as it is a graffiti style and the 3D effect makes it appear bold and eye catching. The font looks current and modern just like the characters that feature within the film trailer.
These are my three favourite font ideas and I have taken inspiration from other British Film Dramas when composing my research. I feel all three of these fonts would stand out on either a magazine front cover or on a poster as they are bold and eye catching.

Filming Day One
Today we began our filming for our film trailer, however we couldn't get all our actors to film, so we decided that we try and film all the scenes with Shaun (Tom Chapman) in them. We managed to film several shots, with the Dad (Pete Warren) character completing his part as he was only involved in one shot. In addition, one of our extras was available to film a shot which involved him walking with a knife behind his back.
We tried to film the scenes involving Shaun (Tom Chapman) in chronological order. The first shot was filmed by Sam Warren in which we filmed Shaun waking and sitting up on his bed with his head in his hands. We filmed this with the lights off and blinds closed to create a dark, low key lighting. The shot shows the feelings of Shaun as the camera highlights Shaun's expressions. Furthermore, Sam also filmed another shot within the bedroom of Shaun opening the blinds, which tries to signify new hope as he opens the blinds to a new day.

This image shows Sam filming the first couple of shots in the bedroom.
Moreover, we then moved on to our next shot which involved Shaun lining up some cocaine and snorting it. Obviously we didn't use cocaine but used some flour to make it look very similar. The shot is of Shaun sitting down with the table in front of him, with the curtains closed to create low key lighting. We got close up to Shaun and took the view from a side on position, so that we could capture Shaun preparing the cocaine and then snorting it. This scene took a few retakes but eventually we managed to film a shot that we were happy with.
I then filmed a POV shot of Shaun holding a photo his dead mother which shows his feelings towards his situation. Following on from the POV shot, I filmed a tilt towards the ceiling in which we have planned on using when we come to editing.
We finished filming in the house with Chris filming the final shot. The final shot involves Pete Warren, however, we only needed to see his arm, with a beer in his hand. The shot shows Pete Warren sat down with a beer in his hand, with Shaun (Tom Chapman) walking past the door and seeing his dad with the beer, showing his disappointment for his dad as he has started drinking again.
We then moved to our next location where we went to film the scene where Shaun is being followed by someone with a knife behind their back. We used one of our extras to film this scene and Chris was responsible for filming the shot.
To end the day we changed to the location and went to a nearby park to film the fitness and gym scenes. It was easier to film outside instead of going to a busy gym. Sam filmed the shots of Shaun doing the different exercises.

Casting
We have finally chosen people to be our actors in our trailer and they are all willing to take part. We have asked people we think could represent the role of the characters in a convincing manner. We have shown our chosen actors our narrative and our storyboard so they have an understanding about the type of film trailer we are trying to create, so that they can have a better understanding of their role.
The four characters we have chosen are:
